The Whole Bite Club · Prep to Year 2 · Lesson 4 · After the visit
Looking after my face and mouth
After the Whole Bite Club visit, this lesson focuses on personal hygiene, especially caring for our face and mouth. Building on the small-group session — where the Oral Health Home team checked children’s teeth, applied fluoride (with consent), and guided brushing and flossing — students learn that good daily hygiene keeps germs down and helps protect their teeth, and they build these habits into their morning and night routines.
Learning intention
In this lesson, we will learn how to look after our face and mouth every day, and why good hygiene keeps us healthy.
Success criteria
I will know I am successful when I can:
- Explain why we practise good hygiene — to keep germs down and stay healthy.
- Describe how I look after my face in the morning, for example by washing or wiping my face.
- Show how to brush all parts of my teeth and use a small amount of fluoride toothpaste.
- Explain why cleaning between our teeth is important.
Guiding questions
- How do we look after our face and mouth each day?
- What do we do in the morning to get clean and ready?
- How does good hygiene help keep germs away?
