What happens on the day

One coordinated visit, in three parts. We work around your timetable.

  1. Before we arrive

Confirm the class order and suitable breakout space. Parent/carer consent forms are distributed and returned.

  2. One class at a time

Each class enjoys a 30-minute interactive lesson in the morning.

  3. Breakout groups follow

Groups of 4-6 children rotate through approximately 15 minutes of practical oral hygiene learning.

Six children sitting around classroom tables brushing their teeth together while an adult holds up a giant model of a mouth, with the green dragon puppet and a big model tooth on the table in front of them
Breakout groupsFour to six children at a time practise brushing and flossing with a therapist beside them.
An oral health therapist wearing gloves gently holding a smiling child’s cheek to look at their teeth, at a table in their own classroom, with new toothbrush packs laid out beside them
Individual checksEvery child has their own oral health check, in a quiet corner of a room they already know.

What a visit costs

No cost to your school

Eligible children’s check-ups are bulk billed through Medicare’s Child Dental Benefits Schedule. We check eligibility and manage the billing, so the school handles none of it.

What the check-up costs you

If your family gets Family Tax Benefit Part A, the check-up is free. Some other Centrelink payments count too. Your child needs a Medicare card. Not covered? Your child is still seen on the day, at no cost to you.
